Regardless of whether a cat adventures indoors or out, veterinarians recommend that all felines be vaccinated to protect them from a variety of diseases, including rabies, a fatal virus that threatens animals across the country. In fact, cats are infected with rabies more than other pet in the U.S.1

That’s why Merial, the maker of PUREVAX® Feline Rabies vaccines — the only rabies vaccines made specifically for cats — recently teamed up with the Adventure Cats team and Hannah Shaw, aka Kitten Lady, to educate cat owners about the importance of vaccinating their feline friends.

Java Cats adoption event with Adventure Cats and Purevax

Java Cats celebrated its 70th cat adoption during the Purevax event.

On Friday, June 30, the PUREVAX® team hosted an adoption event at Java Cats, Atlanta’s first cat café, and sponsored admissions for all participants who wanted to meet the cafe cats. The PUREVAX team also offered to pay the adoption fees for the first ten cats adopted.

Numerous cat lovers stopped by throughout the day to sip “catpuccinos,” connect with fellow feline advocates and snuggle and play with the cats and kittens available for adoption.

These tiny orange tabbies went to their forever home together.

Shaw, a kitten rescuer with a viral social media following, was on hand to meet fans, and she and Adventure Cats co-founder Laura Moss talked about the importance of getting cats vaccinated to help them lead healthy, happy lives.

By the end of the day, four shelter cats had found their forever homes, and in addition to taking home a feline friend, the adopters also got a bag of goodies from PUREVAX® to help make their kitties’ adjustment to their new homes as smooth as possible.

Check out some more photos from the adoption event below, and learn more about the PUREVAX Pure Protection Program and how to get your kitty vaccinated.
